Ryan Companies US, Inc. has reached a milestone in the construction of Clarendale® of Schererville, a hospitality-inspired, $40 million, 177-unit senior living community being developed in Northwest Indiana. Clarendale of Schererville is fully enclosed, and construction activity is now focused on the interiors of the community that will open in Spring 2017.
Clarendale of Schererville is the third Clarendale senior living community from developer-builder Ryan Companies and its project partners, Life Care Services, An LCS® Company, and Harrison Street Real Estate Capital.
For the convenience of prospective residents and their families, the newly opened leasing office, at 212 W. Lincoln Highway in Schererville, will have special hours of operation over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The leasing office will be closed on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24), but open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, and by appointment only on Sat., Nov. 26, and Sun., Nov. 27, by calling (219) 322-8855. Clarendale of Schererville will follow the quality of the Clarendale brand and offer three hospitality-based lifestyle neighborhoods — independent living, assisted living and memory care — all under one roof. When completed, the three-story community will feature 85 independent living residences, 38 assisted living residences and 54 memory care residences. The apartments will range from approximately 720 square feet to 1,300 square feet for independent living, and from approximately 300 square feet to 890 square feet for assisted living and memory care. The finishes throughout the building are attractive, including granite kitchen countertops in the independent and assisted living residences.

Clarendale of Schererville is being built on approximately 9.0 acres at the northwest corner of U.S. Route 30/Lincoln Highway and Burr Street.
Erickson noted that interest in Clarendale of Schererville has been strong, especially now that the community is taking shape and the leasing office has opened. He noted that while this community is the first expansion into Indiana for the Clarendale brand, the premise and the appeal are the same, regardless of geography.
“Seniors are looking for comfortable living, an extensive array of amenities and conveniences, and opportunities to be connected and secure in a familiar territory,” Erickson said.
Two features that have become standard features in the other developments — a movie theater room for regular movie nights and a crafts room — have been added to an already exciting list of social amenities. Residents of the community will also enjoy a bistro, a pub and billiards room, a club room and library, living rooms with fireplaces, a vaulted multipurpose room, a wellness center with a full-service salon, a fitness room and a private patio and courtyard.
Maintenance-free living with well-appointed common areas to promote socialization and recreation will offer Clarendale of Schererville residents life-enriching opportunities. Housekeeping, maintenance and transportation as well as restaurant-style and private dining with chef’s specialties are among the convenient services to be offered. Covered and surface parking for 152 automobiles will also be available.

Clarendale of Schererville is one of four Clarendale-branded projects in varying stages of development. Clarendale® of Mokena, a 156-residence community opened in Mokena, Ill., in September 2015; Clarendale® of Algonquin, a 186-residence community that opened in Algonquin, Ill., at the end of September 2016; and Clarendale® of Hendersonville, a 184-residence community being developed in a suburb of Nashville, TN, and is expected to open in Spring 2018.
