Multifamily Development in Chula Vista Officially Named

As construction continues on the fourth multifamily community in the 210-acre Millenia development, Ryan Companies US, Inc. has announced the official name for the luxury apartment complex. The Avalyn, which broke ground in August 2020, is a joint venture among MetLife Investment Management, Allstate Investments and Ryan.

The 512,000-square-foot project, designed by ARK Architects, will feature market-rate luxury living and numerous amenities for residents, as well as 16,000 square feet of commercial space. The apartment units will range from 626 square feet to 2,336 square feet and will consist of one, two and three-bedroom flats, two-story mezzanine lofts, live-work units and three-story townhomes. Amenities will include a resort-style pool and spa, clubhouse kitchen, community co-working spaces, fitness center, two dog run areas, a rooftop deck, bocce ball court, bike maintenance and storage, a speakeasy, live music studio and community green areas. Other consultants who contributed to this project include Hunsaker & Associates as the civil engineer and GMP as the landscape architect.

“It’s important for us to create places that reflect the surrounding community and enhance people’s lives,” said Mike Mahoney, West regional president at Ryan.

Construction is currently on-schedule. Concrete pours began mid-December, underground plumbing has been installed for the first four buildings and framing is about to kick off. Pre-leasing for The Avalyn will begin in August 2021, and construction is expected to conclude in December 2022.

Ryan’s in-house agency, Yellow Truck Creative, was hired for the brand development of The Avalyn. The agency specializes in brand development and branded environmental graphics for commercial real estate projects. Some of its notable work includes Highland Bridge in St. Paul, Minn., and the 777 Novus Tower in Tempe, Ariz.
