Cedar Rapids Symphony Center

Providing design-build services for the nationally renowned symphony
Desiring to house their Symphony School and administrative offices in the same building, the Cedar Rapids Symphony asked Ryan to remodel an 100-year-old, poorly cared for building with major structural problems. It was especially important for Ryan and partner architect OPN to be sensitive to the historic nature of the building through the design and construction. They maintained character of the building while installing a completely new HVAC system, plumbing and elevators and refurbishing the exterior facade. The overall result of the new space is a facility that enhances the school's goal of providing opportunities to instill a lifelong appreciation of music through a challenging and creative environment of learning and performance.
