The need for LEED at the ASU Research Park
The NCA/CASI office building is the sixth project Ryan has performed inside the Arizona State University Research Park, and the first within the park designed to obtain LEED certification (gold level).
During a six-month architecture and engineering process, Ryan and their design and engineering partners utilized several computerized lighting and energy models, resulting in a 50% reduction in water/sanitary sewer loads through the use of waterless urinals, dual flush water closets, desert landscaping and recaptured irrigation water. The NCA/CASI building was also designed to yield a 26% energy savings through HVAC enhancements, advanced interior lighting and the use of energy-efficient materials such as Energy Star® Reflective Roofing and high performance glass.
