New Ulm Medical Center
Ryan's design-build approach breathes new life into this hospital project
Frustrated with their contractor, and consequential budget and scheduling problems, Allina decided to begin the New Ulm Medical Center renovation and expansion project again with a new contractor. Ryan was able to offer their unique design-build approach, bringing a fresh perspective to the project. Working closely with Allina and their architectural firm, HGA, Ryan focused the project team on the essentials versus the "nice-to-haves." The result was a $1,000,000 savings in the budget and a 14-month schedule versus the original 24.
After construction, the hospital's emergency department grew by twice the size, and the radiology and chemotherapy departments were completely renovated. The hospital also gained a MRI suite, twice the number of clinic exam rooms and two new entrances and waiting areas. Allina was happy with the savings of time and money and thrilled they didn't have to sacrifice their service to the community.
