University tries design-build for the first time
The University of Iowa wanted a cost-effective and efficient space for a laboratory incubator project that caters to start-up and transitional companies. Through a ground lease with the University of Iowa’s Research Park in Coralville, Iowa, Ryan was able to provide a competitive lease rate to the University while meeting its and the Research Park’s aesthetic needs. Utilizing design-build was critical to the success of this project. Because of state law, the University hadn't previously experienced the design-build delivery system. The University’s positive experience with the design and construction process has led them to encourage the state legislature to allow the use of the design-build delivery method on publicly-owned projects.
