Ryan and the UNL collaborate on a second project
After the successful renovation of the Harper/Schramm/Smith housing complex, University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL) wanted to work with Ryan again on their next project — the complete renovation of a 50,000 square-foot dining hall, meeting/catering center and offices. The main focus of the renovation was to update the food service preparation, presentation and service model from the outmoded serving line to a modern "scatter-scramble" service method. This also included completely replacing the facility's mechanical and electrical systems, constructing new restrooms, improving the building's handicap accessibility and modifying the first and second floor facades to dramatically increase the flow of natural light. In addition, Ryan managed the design, procurement and installation of over $1.2 million of kitchen equipment.
