Receives 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award from MSU, Mankato
MANKATO, MN (April 26, 2005) – Michael P. Cairl, construction operations manager for the Minneapolis office of Ryan Companies, has received the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Harold J. Fitterer Service Award from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Cairl received the award at the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony Friday, April 22, in Midwest Wireless Civic Center, Mankato.
The Distinguished Alumni Harold J. Fitterer Service Award was originally called the Service Award, but was renamed in 1979 for Harold J. Fitterer `50 in recognition of his dedication and service to MSU. The award is presented to alumni who follow his example and engage in continuing efforts to preserve, promote and support MSU through their time, treasure and talents.
Cairl provided MSU construction management students with a “living laboratory,” an 8 x 20 foot job site trailer used by students as an auxiliary lab. The trailer is equipped with a conference table, computer, printer, fax machine and other modern technology.
He also served on the construction management advisory board, has been an MSU guest speaker in construction management classes, and has helped with the development of a master’s degree plan.
He is active in the Associate General Contractors, Construction Specification Institute of America and Design-Build Institute of America. He earned a bachelor of science degree in construction management from MSU in 1983.
