Ryan Companies US, Inc. Receives Real Estate Honor for
The Hartford's Maple Grove Office
MINNEAPOLIS (May 3, 2005) – Ryan Companies US, Inc., was recently awarded the Minneapolis- St. Paul Business Journal’s Best in Real Estate honor for its work on a build-to-suit office development the company completed for The Hartford. The new 100,000 square-foot office building, located at 6801 Wedgwood Road in Maple Grove, opened in April and houses an operations center for The Hartford’s individual life insurance business. Ryan completed this project under a Design/Build – Build to Suit for Lease development structure. Bob Shulman and Gwen Schultze of CRESA Partners ( Boston and Minneapolis offices respectively) served as corporate real estate advisors in the lease transaction for The Hartford.
“This award is a nice cap to a project that was rewarding on many levels,” said Collin Barr , vice president of development, Ryan Companies US, Inc. “As we designed the building, our goal was to balance the look and feel of the building with how the space will be used, while achieving an overall cost-effective approach to construction. The final result is that Ryan completed the building well ahead of schedule and under budget.”
The Hartford ’s new Maple Grove office broke ground in May 2004. The facility is designed with an abundance of natural light from a continuous ribbon of exterior windows, excellent highway access and visibility, and an on-site cafeteria.
“This project also represents the type of relationships Ryan builds with its customers: ones that last beyond building occupancy,” Barr added.
The Maple Grove office is the third Design-Build office development project that Ryan has completed for The Hartford in the past three years. Ryan designed and built sales and service centers in Santee,California, and San Antonio, Texas. The Santee facility features a special infrastructure for events such as a fire or earthquake. The San Antonio facility features Texas Hill County architecture along with an efficient 33,000 square foot floorplate.
