JoAnna Hicks Joins Ryan as Director of Development
MINNEAPOLIS (May, 2007) – Ryan Companies US, Inc. announced that JoAnna Hicks has joined the company as director of development. In her new role, Hicks will oversee a mix of industrial, business park, office and build-to-suit projects.
“Having worked alongside JoAnna on Midtown Exchange, we were impressed by the high quality of her work and dedication to problem solving,” said Rick Collins, vice president of development, Ryan Companies US, Inc. “We’re very pleased to have JoAnna on our team.”
Hicks got her start in development nine years ago in Vermont, where she worked with Cathedral Square Corporation, a nonprofit housing developer. She then moved to Minnesota and worked as director of real estate development for Neighborhood Development Center, overseeing several projects including Plaza Verde – the first project in the state to use New Markets tax credit – and the Midtown Global Market. Most recently, Hicks was a project manager with United Properties.
“This position continuously presents new challenges to be met,” Hicks said. “Every situation is unique, from the site, the project parameters, financing – there’s never going to be one single solution for them all. That’s what keeps this fresh, finding new solutions every time.”
Hicks holds a Bachelors degree in urban studies and a minor in history from Macalester College, and a Masters of Natural Resources Planning from the University of Vermont. She is a LEED Accredited professional, a member of the Urban Land Institute and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). Hicks also volunteers with Juxtaposition Arts, Neighborhood Development Center and the Green Institute.
