NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Dec. 8, 2009)—R. Lynn Treat, director of field operations, Ryan Companies US, Inc., has been installed as the 50th Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Builders Association of Chicago for 2010. The installation of Treat as chairman took place on Thursday, Dec. 3 at the association’s annual meeting.

The Builders Association was founded in 1906 and is the leading trade association serving the commercial construction industry. Builders Association members include the leading contractors and suppliers in the Chicago area construction industry. General contractor members range from large, national firms to smaller, specialized companies. They build private and public projects worth more than $11 billion annually.

Last year, Treat served the association as its vice chairman. He succeeds John Russell, Chicago president of W.E. O’Neil Construction Company, as chairman. Treat has served on the board of the Builders Association since 2005.

Treat has nearly 40 years of construction experience. He has been with Ryan Companies for the last 12 years. Along with Jeff Smith, Midwest Division president, Ryan Companies US, Inc., and Bob Goodpaster, vice president and chief operations officer, Ryan Companies US, Inc., Treat helped to establish Ryan’s presence in the Chicago marketplace more than 10 years ago. At Ryan, Treat oversees cost estimating, technical design and development, construction activities and subcontractor negotiation. In this role Treat offers cost-effective and value-added solutions to construction challenges in all types of projects.

The notable projects in which Treat has been involved during his career include:  Deere & Company World Headquarters, Delta Dental of Illinois Corporate Headquarters, Wheaton Christian Grammar School, Isle of Capri Bettendorf (formerly Lady Luck Casino Hotel) and USDA Biohazard Level 4 DNA Research Facility.
