Ryan Companies US, Inc. Announces High Profile Medical Office Development in Westmont, Illinois; first development of its kind in area in 30 years

Naperville, IL (September 2, 2008) — Ryan Companies US, Inc., has announced plans to develop a $35 million Class-A medical office building along the Route 83 Corridor in west suburban Westmont, Ill. Company officials say the building, totaling 115,000 square feet, will be the first new Class A medical office center built in the area in more than three decades.

The six-acre project site is located on the west side of Route 83, roughly one-quarter-mile north of Ogden Avenue. The site currently serves as an overflow facility for McGrath Lexus.

Ryan plans to break ground and begin construction in Spring 2009. Occupancy would come as early as Summer 2010.

The multi-story building will feature floorplates of approximately 20,000 square feet. The building is being marketed both as a single and multi-tenant facility.

“Because of its frontage along Route 83, where local traffic is outstanding and more than 120,000 cars pass by every day, this is one of the most attractive development sites in the area,” said Brad Wilson, vice president of development for Ryan Companies. “This represents a great opportunity for healthcare systems and highly specialized medical groups to be in the hub of one of the strongest medical markets in metro Chicago.”

Wilson added that with the level of traffic the site gets, there is terrific opportunity for identity and branding through prominent signage on the building.

Wilson says that Ryan is placing great emphasis on the quality of the architecture and building materials. Architectural features are expected to integrate traditional and contemporary design and a preference toward native materials rather than prescribing a particular style, he said.

Andy Polivka and Mike Siedlecki of The Polivka Group will coordinate leasing for the property.

“The building is being designed to make a crisp, distinct impression, allowing easy identification from several directions and at a distance,” Wilson said. “The image will be welcoming, healing and in keeping with the impression medical service professionals and related firms seek to portray.”

This is the style Ryan has followed in designing several other medical office facilities in recent years.

Earlier this summer, Ryan won a 2008 Excellence in Masonry Awards program for the design and construction of the North Hills Medical Centre, a 120,000-square-foot medical office complex in Menomonee Falls (suburban Milwaukee), Wisconsin.
