Ryan Companies US, Inc. Starts Construction on Mercedes-Benz of St. Charles

Resnick Automotive Group to Move to 31,400-Square-Foot Facility

Naperville, Ill. (August 11, 2010)—Ryan Companies US, Inc. has started construction on a 31,400-square-foot Mercedes-Benz dealership and showroom in St. Charles, Ill., for the Resnick Automotive Group. The building will allow the company to move from its current location, the renovated Hines Lumber facility across the street.

“Our new showroom has been designed to promote the new Mercedes-Benz Corporate Auto Haus design,” said Craig Falkenthal, general manager for Resnick’s St. Charles operations. “It will have all the efficiency and space flow that one would associate with a luxury automobile dealership.”

The new building at 225 N. Randall Rd. will be an elegant, metal, glass and architectural precast concrete building. Space in the building will include an 8,600-square-foot showroom, a 17,900-square-foot service center area and 3,700 square feet of office space. Additionally there will be 1,200 square feet of storage area.

Special design elements and finishes of these spaces will include a floor-to-ceiling glass storefront in the showroom to showcase the various Mercedes-Benz automobiles and a spacious customer lounge with a fireplace and comfortable seating area.

A ceremonial project groundbreaking was held on the site on July 14. Construction of the new facility is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2011.

The dealership is the newest addition to the Resnick Automotive Group's dealerships, which include Schaumburg Toyota/Scion, Woodfield Lexus, Midtown Toyota/Scion and Certified Collision Center. The company purchased the Mercedes-Benz franchise, then in Arlington Heights, in 2003 and moved it to the Hines Lumber site in 2006.

The new building and parking facility will be built on just over four acres of the eight-acre site, with the remaining land set aside for future considerations.

Project team representatives from Ryan Companies, the general contractor, include Ryan Ritchie, project manager, and Jim Herbst, division manager. Other members of the project team include Gensler, which provided architectural and design services for the dealership, and Watermark Engineering Resources, Ltd. of Aurora, which provided civil engineering services.

According to Ritchie, the planning process for the new facility has lasted several years as Resnick and the development team worked through a variety of design and site challenges.

“It is great to see all of the preparation and planning come to fruition and construction begin,” Ritchie said. “The end result will be a beautiful new facility in a highly visible location along Randall Road.”
