Innovatior in industrial automation solutions relocates its corporation headquarters

MINNEAPOLIS (April 22, 2010) – Ryan Companies US, Inc. announced today that Comtrol Corporation – a global product leader in ruggedized Ethernet switches and fiber and serial device connectivity for applications in the security and surveillance, transit and transportation, renewable energy and industrial automation industries – has relocated its corporate headquarters into a 26,700-square-foot, highly modern, light-filled work environment that was developed, designed, constructed and will be managed by Ryan.

Comtrol took occupancy of its new space at New Brighton Commons in New Brighton, Minn., following four months of construction. Half of the new building houses office/laboratory space, while the other half is a warehouse. The company’s previous headquarters was in nearby Maple Grove.

“We wanted an environment that was fresh and vibrant – an energetic modern work environment that facilitates communication instead of a typical corporate space,” said Becky Summers-Beale, owner of Comtrol Corporation. “Ryan gave us exactly what we wanted and more. Working with Ryan was fantastic because it was so seamless. We had one team of development, construction, design and property management professionals continually available to us.”

The design allows all employees to enjoy natural daylight, with private offices pushed to the center of the space, and colorful, top-of-the-line workstations configured closer to the windows. Even in the warehouse space, garage doors that wouldn’t be utilized were replaced with natural glass to flood the space with light.

“The employees are very happy with their new office environment,” Summers-Beale said.

With Comtrol’s move to the building, New Brighton Commons is now 100 percent leased. Ryan partnered with the City of New Brighton and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to redevelop the former hazardous-waste site, which underwent a nine-year remediation process  by the EPA and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) as part of the federal Superfund Program. Ryan developed, designed, constructed and currently manages the 57,980-square-foot industrial building on the land. In addition to an attractive office/industrial design, New Brighton Commons boasts a convenient location in the southwest quadrant of the 35W/694 interchange.
