MINNEAPOLIS (February 8, 2012) — Ryan Companies US, Inc. announced
it has promoted Mike Ryan, LEED AP, AIA, to director of architecture & engineering. He leads Ryan’s team of eight architects, four civil engineers,
two landscape architects and two virtual building specialists in their efforts to realize their customer’s vision and needs through Ryan’s integrated project delivery system.
“Mike’s strength lies in not only his design acumen, but his deep development knowledge and direct project management and field experience,” said Jeff Smith, executive vice president of Ryan. “With his expertise in higher education, hospitality, master planning and urban design, his leadership will strengthen our already sound reputation for design excellence and integrated solutions while bringing greater creativity and innovation to the integrated project delivery process.”
Mike Ryan previously worked as a project manager and project architect for Robert A.M. Stern Architects, an internationally renowned architecture firm located in Manhattan. He worked extensively on institutional projects for customers such as the University of Virginia, Miami University, Marist College, Yale University and the University of Notre Dame. He also worked on a number of development-driven projects in Korea. Prior to that, Mike served as a project architect/site superintendent for Habitat for Humanity in Temuco, Chile in 2004. Mike Ryan is currently leading the design of the 222 Hennepin project, a mixed-use, multi-family development in downtown Minneapolis.
“Ryan is uniquely positioned in the industry to offer our customers what few others can — a single, collaborative team for design, construction, development and management,” said Mike Ryan. “The backbone of this approach is a trusted, valued relationship, something we’ve fostered for more than 70 years. As architects and engineers in the equation, our responsibility is to connect with our customers, realize their desires and advance their goals. We drive design excellence in balance with other often conflicting considerations to produce buildings that we’re all proud of. I’m humbled by the opportunity to champion this cause at Ryan and excited to lead this already great team.”
Mike has a bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame and a master of real estate development from Columbia University. He is an architecture advisory council member for the University of Notre Dame, a contributing member of Minneapolis 2025 Plan and a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Mike Ryan is also a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accredited professional and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
