Davenport, Iowa (November 12, 2010)—Ryan Companies US, Inc. has completed construction of a 28,000-square-foot complex at the Davenport Municipal Airport, 9230 N. Harrison St., Davenport, Iowa, for Carver Aero, Inc. The $2.9 million facility includes an 8,000-square-foot fixed base of operations office building and a 20,000-square-foot maintenance and storage hangar.
Carver Aero, Inc. is a full service aviation company that provides third-party aircraft management, maintenance and charter services. The company also offers a full range of aviation related services, including aircraft charter, air ambulance, air freight, flight training, aircraft rental, aerial photography and pleasure flights.
The new complex includes meeting rooms, an airport terminal, a pilots' lounge, storage for private planes and office space for Carver Aero, Inc., which relocated key operations from another location at the airport.
"This new facility allows Carver Aero to expand operations and achieve greater efficiencies by working from a new, modern facility," said Rick Tucker, a project manager for Ryan Companies US, Inc.
Airport modernization has been a key focus of the City of Davenport as it looks to boost economic development in the region. The city also has completed significant road improvements leading into the airport.
"The new facility is an important part of the airport modernization and the overall Interstate 80 Corridor redevelopment efforts that are so important to the city of Davenport," said Rodney Blackwell, a partner with Carver Aero, Inc. “The investment made will create a great first impression. This new facility serves as the gateway for the community and the greater surrounding area.”
The facility was built on the site of an old airport terminal from the 1950s. Following demolition, the new building was constructed of pre-engineered materials for the hangar, plus brick and stucco for the office portion. There were many energy efficient building practices used, including strategic placement of windows to help reduce electrical usage.
Included among Ryan's aviation experience now are four recently completed fixed base of operations facilities. In addition to Carver Aero at the Davenport Airport, other projects include facilities at the Des Moines International Airport, the Quad City International Airport in Moline and the Aurora Municipal Airport.
