15-year Ryan veteran brings more than 25 years of construction experience to new role
Minneapolis (February 17, 2012) — Ryan Companies US, Inc. announced it has promoted Eric Engh, LEED AP to senior vice president of its public sector. He leads a team of specialists who are experts in the design, construction, development and management of government offices, county, district and federal courthouses and other public facilities.
“With the government’s focus on efficient, sustainable buildings, I believe Ryan is in an ideal position to offer what few other companies can: sophisticated construction skills combined with expertise in the operational and life cycle aspects of the facility.” said Engh. “That in-house proficiency is complemented by our in-depth knowledge of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards as well as our Building Information Modeling capability. My goal is to provide the very best solutions to our public customers not only with our internal expertise, but through our strong national design firm and subcontractor relationships”.
Engh has been with Ryan for more than 15 years, beginning his career as a project manager and progressing steadily into leadership/management roles where he has thrived for the past 11 years. Engh was instrumental in expanding Ryan’s distribution center business, and he worked closely with Target in establishing their US food distribution network and logistical program in Canada. He has worked on projects in most of the contiguous 48 states and is intimately familiar with Ryan’s operations and systems. Prior to Ryan, Engh worked as a project manager for Vandervert Development and Michael Curry Companies.
“With Eric’s track record for leadership in site selection, land procurement and government processes as well as design, construction and administrative activities, he was the ideal choice for leading our public sector efforts on a national level,” said Jeff Smith, executive vice president of Ryan. “Ryan and Eric already have a positive working relationship with the US General Services Administration’s (GSA) Great Lakes and Heartland regions through our work on the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building in Fort Snelling, Minn., the US Federal Courthouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and the Warren E. Burger Federal Building in St. Paul, Minn. We have also recently completed an office building for the GSA and their anchor tenant, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), in Phoenix, Ariz., and a US Army Corps of Engineers facility in Rock Island, Ill. Our plan is to build upon this strong foundation.”
Engh has a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota and a master of business administration from the University of Iowa. He is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accredited professional (LEED-AP).
