PHOENIX (May 17, 2011) – Ryan Companies U.S. western region headquarters at 3900 E. Camelback
in Phoenix, AZ, has been awarded Gold-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

"The 3900 E. Camelback project is all about achieving remarkable project results through smart,
responsible design and construction," says Casey Cartier, LEED AP, Division Manager for Ryan
Companies US, Inc. "This LEED Gold-level award underscores our intent to be attractive to tenants by
offering a project that is respectful of the natural resources inside and outside of the physical building."

Elements that led the US Green Building Council to award the Gold rating for Ryan Companies'
three-story, 185,000-square-foot project include:

  • The capture of 100% of stormwater, storage and usage in the landscaping

  • More than 75% of the construction waste diverted from the landfills through recycling programs

  • Building products extracted and manufactured within 500 miles of the projects location to minimize transportation impact

  • Low volatile organic compound (VOC) materials for paints, adhesives, and sealants

  • Highly energy efficient through greater insulating factors at the roof and exterior walls, energy efficient lighting, and elaborate HVAC control systems

  • Installation of extensive monitoring and verification tools for continuous adjustment to maximize building performance

  • Charging stations for electric vehicles to support the use of low emitting/fuel efficient vehicles

Less than 50 projects in the Greater Phoenix area have been awarded LEED Gold since the 1998
inception of the green building certification system.

LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a project employs design, building, operations and maintenance strategies that promote water and energy efficiency and a systematic approach to achieving a high level of indoor and outdoor environmental quality.
