Polaris Multi-Brand Distribution Center

When Polaris was looking to build a multibrand distribution center near their customers in Fernley, NV, they were set on choosing a local company. However, through extensive technical and cost research, a proposal in complete alignment with their ‘Guiding Principles,’ backed by years of proven success for Polaris, we were selected for their first new build in over 10 years.

The facility, located 30 miles east of Reno, supports their growing aftermarket, garment and accessory business—a brand new market for Polaris and an effort to get closer to their customers. This project also signifies our very first build in Nevada, which meant developing a recruitment strategy for new subcontractors and vendors in the area and pulling from our regional markets to create the best possible team. Additionally, this is the first new development in Fernley, challenging our team to come up with a creative solution for a complete utility infrastructure. We resolved this by working closely with the developer to establish a comprehensive scope of work and strategic plan to help finance the setup.

This innovative and efficient warehouse features cross-dock functionality, eliminating the need for square footage and storage space, significantly reducing inventory and material handling costs for Polaris. The hybrid roof combines steel girders and joists with wood sub-purlins and decking, making it lighter overall and ideal for the highly seismic area. Skylights and clerestory windows fill the warehouse with natural light reducing energy and during the warm months a night-time purge system brings cool air in, reducing cooling costs overall and operating more efficiently.
