An underserved market, St. Cloud, MN was ripe for a thoughtfully designed approach to senior living. Partnering with operator GreatLakes Management, we selected the city for our first Talamore environment, driven by residents’ needs for meaningful engagement, care and involvement in the larger community. The objective for each Talamore is a warm, comfortable—never ostentatious—environment.
Our team located an appropriate property near a major retail hub, a draw for visitors as well as residents. Working closely with Great Lakes, we maximized the tight project site and finessed the design of this four-story environment with 114 independent and assisted living and 24 memory care units. Residents now enjoy versatile common spaces for leisure activities, sit-down and bistro dining, and private or larger social gatherings. The aesthetics enhance stability, clarity and safety, and the two inviting garden courtyards—one for memory care— speak to the outcome of careful advance planning around preferences for shade, privacy and accessibility. High-performance mechanical systems strengthen ventilation throughout and can be adjusted by unit. Deploying our intersecting disciplines, we achieved flow and finishes on a par with costlier residences.
The entire process was remarkably smooth, a tribute to the mutual trust, support and communication between our team and Great Lakes Management, setting the stage for multiple future projects.
