Overview
Built in 1929, Willbur Foshay constructed the obelisk Foshay Tower in homage to the Washington Monument, designing it to tower over every building west of the Mississippi River. It is a historically registered landmark in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Having served as an office building for more than seven decades, the iconic Foshay always seemed destined for more. When co-developer RWB Holdings and Ryan partnered with Starwood Hotels & Resorts the vision of bringing the modern W Hotel brand to this elegant and historic building was born.
W Minneapolis – The Foshay features 212 distinct guest rooms and 18 suites, W’s signature Living Room, Manny’s Restaurant and Bar, Key’s Restaurant, a W store, SWEAT (W-branded workout area), a concierge service, meeting and banquet space and valet parking. The destination Prohibition Bar on the 27th floor tops the hotel, providing stunning views of the city.
A W hotel is designed to create a one-of-a-kind experience. All furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) elements were customized, which resulted in longer lead times than traditional prototype hotel developments. The experience of W Minneapolis – The Foshay reflects the character of the city; the exterior representing the prestige and industry of the past and the interior showcasing the city’s music and art culture that is so important to its vitality today.
