Project Overview

Wirtz Beverage of Illinois is a member of the Wirtz Beverage Group, one of the nation’s leading alcoholic beverage distributors, with more than $1.5 billion in annual sales. Wirtz wanted to consolidate its operations across Illinois into one location to create greater operating efficiencies. The company selected Ryan to construct the WBI Center, their new regional headquarters and warehouse facility in Cicero, Illinois, an inner suburb of Chicago, on a 35-acre site that was previously home to a portion of the former Sportsman’s Park Race Track.

The new facility was built on a fast-tracked timeline and includes a two-story, 95,850-square-foot office component connected to a 509,120-square-foot, state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution center. The office component was designed with an enhanced façade and first-class interiors to give it the distinction worthy of a Class A headquarters. The warehouse and distribution facility features 38-foot clear ceilings, a cold storage area and a highly-specialized automated storage and retrieval system, which includes mezzanine space. Additional features include 41 docks, two drive-in doors and almost 750 parking spaces.
