Silvergate Rancho Bernardo

Located in San Diego’s northern hills, Silvergate Rancho Bernardo is the flagship senior living environment in award-winning operator AmeriCare Health & Retirement’s portfolio.

We supported AmeriCare by working closely on budgeting and scheduling and by utilizing our virtual capabilities to strengthen coordination and minimize rework. The specified materials— including structural panelized wall systems, fabricated off-site then erected in place—were particularly challenging, since the panels had to function with mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Meanwhile, we worked through the two wettest winters on record, then ramped up safety protocols for Covid-19.

Despite the challenges, the resulting 275,000- SF resort-style, age-in-place environment is nothing short of spectacular. The south side features 20 independent living, duplex-style cottages. The north side has two apartment buildings for assisted living, while the third is dedicated to memory care, with a separate salon. Communal amenities include the outdoor pool and pool house, clubhouse with penthouse suites, media center, 10,000-SF restaurant with private and bistro dining, theater, salon/spa, yoga studio, fitness center, art studio, game lounge, medical room and dispensary. The fountain courtyard provides peaceful sitting areas, and the walking paths and recreation points throughout the entire site are irrigated by an award-winning graywater system. All of the parking areas, including the cottage garages and underground parking garage, are enhanced with electric vehicle charging capability. In its entirety, Silvergate Rancho Bernardo represents the latest evolution in retirement living.
