Endeavor Health: Elmhurst Clinic — Schiller

Endeavor Health, a major healthcare provider in Northeastern Illinois, entrusted Ryan Companies with an unusually complicated project and our first with them: replacing a 70-year-old medical office building, while maintaining day-to-day operations on the same site. The new facility, designed to deliver a better patient experience, is home to a clinic and multiple medical associates. To minimize patient impact, we agreed upon a radically accelerated schedule of six months from groundbreaking to occupancy.

Careful preparation and excellent communication were essential in this situation. The plan was to construct the new facility in the old building’s parking lot, while providing valet parking services to patients. Once completed, we demolished the old building and used the resulting space for a new parking area, an arrangement that necessitated a land swap with the city. We carefully selected materials, chose processes that flowed efficiently over a short time period, and worked closely with physicians to avoid change orders that could cause delays.

The resulting facility, completed on time, is a handsome, two-story, Class A medical office building, featuring enhanced lobbies, more windows, modernized systems and Prairie Style architectural elements, reflecting the area’s cultural heritage. We also honored the location’s history, saving 50 bricks from the old building, which are now used to display plaques.
