Healthcare will be accessible to more low-income and uninsured patients in South Minneapolis with the completion of Southside East Lake Street, a new 30,000-square-foot community health clinic.

The clinic’s grand opening on May 4, 2026, marks a critical milestone for a community facing rising numbers of uninsured individuals. By consolidating services that were previously spread across two separate buildings, the new facility ensures that patients can receive comprehensive care all under one roof.

Integrated Care for a Healthier Community

Built by Ryan Companies, the state-of-the-art facility was designed to meet the holistic needs of the community. It dramatically expands the capacity of Southside Community Health Services, allowing them to grow their patient base, extend operating hours, and integrate a full spectrum of services, including:

  • Primary medical care
  • Oral and vision health
  • Behavioral health services
  • A diagnostic laboratory and mammography suite
  • An on-site pharmacy

A Testament to Community Collaboration

The successful completion of Southside East Lake Street is a powerful example of community partnership. The project was brought to fruition through the architectural vision of 4RM+ULA and Perkins&Will and the project leadership of Classic Lake Consulting.

This vital community asset was made possible by broad support, including $13.9 million in grants and $20 million in New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) from a wide coalition of foundations, government partners, and financial institutions.

We celebrated the completion with a ribbon-cutting on May 1 with project and community leaders, and we look forward to seeing the profound and positive impact this clinic will have on the thousands of individuals and families it will serve.
